Caperdonich doesn't exist anymore. Silent since 2002, demolished in 2011, gone. So what you're holding is a 29-year-old whisky from a distillery that is literally rubble. That's either deeply sad or extremely cool depending on your outlook. We lean cool. Laid down in 1995 in a hogshead, it has had nearly three decades to figure itself out and the results are frankly embarrassing for most active distilleries. Tropical, waxy, old-school Speyside doing its best impression of something that costs four times as much. Fifty cl, 58.7%, Worth every penny and then some.
