Although it is still relatively new, Scotch Universe is a widely recognised independent bottler of Scotch Whiskys with a global presence. The brains behind Scotch Universe have a wealth of whisky industry experience between them, and they have joined forces to provide excellent spirits with a great deal of effort. They have a very strong space theme with their bottlings (if you couldn't already tell), and have gone coded details about the bottling bellow the name for some added chin stroking.
This specific bottling is a 8yo Blair Athol. The distillery annually produces 2.5 million liters of whisky. Established as Aldour in 1778 by Robert Robertson, it was expanded and renamed Blair Athol in 1825. The distillery has a historical connection to Bell's Blended Scotch, dating back to the mid-19th century. Arthur Bell and Sons acquired Blair Athol in 1933, with up to 95% of its output used in Bell's blends. Some 5% ages in sherry casks and is sold as single malt by independent bottlers. Diageo now owns the distillery, adding another to their belt.
